W welcome
Name:-
Chris Pickersgill
W
Occupation:- Field
Service Engineer (Dyson Ltd) site!
Age:-
43, Married to The gorgeous Tracy
(Also my main sponsor!) Grumpy old dad to my Daughter, Kristie.
Experience:-
I have approx 28 years
riding experience on and off road, starting with a Gilera trial bike
when I was 15 years old and have ridden all kinds of bikes over the
years, including a year as a dispatch rider and many track days,
starting with the Performance Bike Frenzy in 1995.
I began road racing in
2004 on a standard Kawasaki KR1S 250 and later a Suzuki RGV250 competing
in the KR Cup run by Derby Phoenix within their F400 class. I
only competed in a few selected rounds with limited success, the best
results being a couple of 3rd places at Croft. An uncompetitive machine,
lack of funds and ultimately a crash (which wrote off the bike) lead to
a re-think and the decision to race in the CB500 Cup. I entered one
round at Donnington in 2005 finishing 9th in both races, then did nearly
the whole season in 2006 (9 out of 11 rounds)
finishing 7th in the Championship and top novice.
In 2007 I entered most
of the rounds (9 out of 11 again) and finished the season in 5th place,
along the way taking my first Superclub win at Mallory park.
2008 saw an up and down
season with 3 superclub race wins and 1 club win, plus many podiums but
technical problems with the bike, a couple of crashes (and subsequent
shoulder Injury) plus a lack of funds meant I only competed in 8 out of
12 rounds and finished the year in 8th position in the championship.
The Bikes
For the 2009 season I'm
building a new bike after my original No.1 bike was badly damaged in the
Anglesey crash ultimately writing it off. The No.2 bike was also damaged
in my last race at Donnington and will also be re-built for next year.
Both will be in the new team colours shown below and are now both
complete, should have some more pictures soon.
No.1/Dry Bike
No.2/Wet Bike

Bike Spec
|
Standard engine and
carbs, Micron cross over race exhaust, jetting can be adjusted
+/- 5%, Goodridge hoses, standard calipers, any make of pads
(I'm currently using Carbon Lorraine SBK5 for dry use and EBC HH
for the wet) Bridgestone BT090's are the control tyre for the
series and must be fitted to all machine's, Bridgestone racing
wets are permitted, front number board, rear seat hump, pillion
footpegs removed and peg ground clearance increased by way of
jack-up plates, oil catch tank as per ACU regs, rear shocks
standard Honda Showa units or Hagon (Mine are Hagon) front forks
must remain standard, oil type and amount can be varied.
Front sprocket must
remain standard, rear can be replaced with renthal type,
40/41/42 options permitted. After market race rev counters are
permitted, I'm currently using an omex sequential shift light
unit on the No.2 bike and a shift-i seqential shift light
on the No.1 bike. Coolant
replaced with water, oil sump and filler lockwired, sharks fin
toe protector on underside of swingarm. I'm also now using my
own rearset footrests as the original ones are becoming harder
to find and are expensive to replace as they regularly snap if
you drop the bike. Two companies are now producing rearsets for
the CB for race use only.
Max power allowed 52 BHP

This is the Dyno
print out from my original No.1 dry bike when it was set up by
Hobbsport Racing in 2005, although this bike was written off I
still have the engine as a spare which could be pressed back
into action at anytime. I would expect my current two bikes to
have very similar curves to this one as they've both been set-up
exactly the same as the original bike. |
