The contents of the FRUSTIX ISO & Screenshots
Possible options from console, after logging in into FRUSTIX (FRUSTIX's main menu):
- A menu for choosing some preferences, like mouse driver, printer detection, German keyboards, CD-RW functions,
monitor frequencies, audio mixer settings and starting the DHCP client.
- A menu for reading some documentations for the console apps.
- Blackbox (a window manager, Graphical User Interface).
- Mikmod for playing Soundtracker and other modules.
- "links" for browsing the internet in a console.
- Setedit for editing texts / source codes.
- Enigma a game, where one needs skill to steer a ball with the mouse through obstacles.
- Penguin Command, also a game, where one has to defend some cities against missiles, which come from the sky.
All menus use the function keys (F1-F12) and the CTRL key to start the desired actions.
Contents of Blackbox's popup menu, when pressing the right mousebutton:
- Alsaplayer, for playing Soundtracker or other modules (also MP3 & Ogg Vorbis).
- A calculator for coders from the FOX package.
- GImageView, for viewing images in different formats.
- Mango Peeler, a level editor for "Mango Quest".
- Mango Quest, a 3D game, where one has to avoid ghosts in labyrinths and eat all pills, one can find on the floor.
- Mozilla Firebird, a browser for html files.
- OpenOffice, for writing texts, printing these and doing all the other fancy things one can do with other office suites, too.
- Rocks'n'Diamonds, a game in the tradition of "Emerald Mine", where one has to collect all gems in a cave to finish one level
(much skill's needed for some levels!).
- xman, for viewing manuals from some apps / commands and other packages of FRUSTIX.
- xpdf, for viewing and printing PDF files.
- ATerm, for fancy terminals.
- emelFM, a filemanager for copying, deleting, etc. files and directories. It also starts some viewer for some file types
and you can use UDF formatted CD-RWs with it, to burn new created data for later use.
- bbconf, for reconfiguring Blackbox.
- Choosing another theme / style for Blackbox (26 are included).
Some things you can also do in Blackbox (like in console mode):
- Nano, an alternativ text editor.
- links (X mode).
- Setedit (X mode).
- Automatic printer setup.
- Starting the DHCP client.
- Formatting a CD-RW in UDF.
- German keyboards.
- Manual printer setup.
- Mount a CD-ROM.
- Mount a CD-RW with UDF.
- Remount the FRUSTIX CD.
- Unmount a CD-ROM / CD-RW.
- Xaumix, for adjusting the volume of the sound / music.
- Logout.
- Logout all ttys.
- Reboot.
- Power off the computer.
