Cloud and Aerith's roles in Before Crisis, a mobile phone game that has yet to be released in America.
Taking place six years before the events of Final Fantasy VII, mostly surrounding the story of the Turks and Shinra's battle with Wutai and then the conflict between them and the original AVALANCHE rebel group, not Barret's team consisting of Biggs, Wedge and Jessie. The game has a series of episodes, in which all show a story from each character from the original FFVII game.
Since this game takes place six years before the event of FFVII, Cloud has just joined the Shinra army, a year before the incident at Mt. Nibel. He quickly becomes friends with Zack, and still admires Sephiroth's strength.
Aerith appears in episodes 12 and 24. The game shows the beginning of her childhood, when Hojo had her father, Professor Gast killed. The Turks were assigned to return her back to Shinra Headquarters, instead of kidnapping her, they attempted to get her to come back on her own.
