Young, beautiful and somewhat mysterious, Aeris met Cloud while selling flowers on the streets of Midgar. She decided to join him soon after. Her unusual abilities enable her to use magic but she seems more interested in the deepening love triangle between herself, Cloud and Tifa.
Born in Icicle Inn, Aerith was born into a happy life with her father, a scientist named Professor Gast, and Ifalna, who was apart of a race called the Cetra, or the Ancients. The happy life was tragically cut short when Aerith was 20 days old, her father was murdered by Professor Hojo, who had been looking for Gast, to take all of his research about the Ancients heritage and Weapon. He kidnapped Aerith and Ifalna, and held them captive for seven years, to experiment on them. Ifalna was able to escape the Shinra Building, and took the train to Sector Seven in Midgar.
As Elmyra was heading to station to see if her husband had returned from Wutai on leave, she stumbled upon Aerith crying next to her dying mother. Ifalna pleaded with Elmyra to take Aerith somewhere safe. Aerith spent the rest of her fifteen years with Elmyra in the Sector Five slums.
For years, Shinra and the Turks had been searching for Aerith, to bring her back to Hojo. But almost everytime, she was let go by a childhood friend, Tseng. At the age of about fifteen, Aerith had met Zack, they dated for approximately two years, but then Zack was called for a SOLDIER mission to investigate the reactor at Mt. Nibel with Sephiroth and Cloud. Zack never returned, because he was murdered by Shinra soldier. Five years later, Aerith had the chance of meeting Cloud. She then chooses to join AVALANCHE, and the journey to save the Planet.
Aerith's personality is one that is very special to me; she is an outgoing, cheerful, happy person. But that does not mean she is not empty of faults. She grew up in a rough city, and was constantly seeked for her heritage powers. She is quite blunt, often times the things she says appear to be cruel; they are not intentional. Her character was meant to be the "bright spot" in Midgar, her home is the only place in Midgar where the sun shines, and flowers blossom. She is very self-less, as well. She tried to summon Holy to prevent Sephiroth's meteor from falling on the planet, in which costed her her life.
Professor Gast was killed when Aerith was only 20 days old. She never got the chance to know him, and I don't believe she ever knew that he was her father. Gast loved Aerith very much and said she and Ifalna are his only treasures. Ifalna raised Aerith for seven years. They lived with Gast for 20 days, until Hojo kidnapped Ifalna and Aerith, and held them in his lab for seven years. Ifalna finally escaped to sector 7 in Midgar and had Elmyra Gainsborough take Aerith to her home, then slowly died. Elmyra raised and took care of Aerith for 15 years. She found her at the sector 7 slums when Ifalna was dying. Elmyra and Aerith became close for over the years in sector 5, and she slightly knew about Aerith being an Ancient, but got confirmation when Tseng came to their house. Although, Elmyra never officially adopted Aerith, she certainly loved her like her own child.
